At MLM Brand, love is woven into every aspect of our clothing, especially in our breastfeeding-friendly staples. From the initial design concept to the final production, we prioritize love, quality, and ethical practices every step of the way.

It all began with a simple thought: how can I make this staple piece into a fourth trimester/breastfeeding-friendly essential? Magda, our founder, sought inspiration from her own closet and motherhood journey.

Collaborative Design Process

With this vision in mind, she collaborates with Alison Hoenes (@alisonhoenesdesign), our talented designer and freelance patter maker, to bring these ideas to life. After discussing the fabric choices, Alison works her magic to create the first fit sample. This sample undergoes thorough examination and adjustments to refine the design, ensuring it meets the highest standards of comfort, functionality, and style. Once the sample is ready, it's mailed to our founder, Magda, for testing. They then engage in discussions, test the fit, and make any necessary adjustments. This collaborative process may involve multiple rounds of testing and adjustments (and lots of FaceTime sessions), as we strive to achieve perfection.

This step typically takes from 4 weeks to 6 months, as we actively involve moms from our community to test the fit and gather feedback. Throughout the process, our focus remains on meticulous attention to detail and ensuring that every aspect of the design meets our high standards. Feedback from our community of moms is invaluable, guiding us in refining the design to best meet their needs and preferences. With each iteration, we strive for excellence, knowing that the end result will be a garment that embodies love, comfort, and style for mothers everywhere.

Product Journey 

At MLM Brand, sustainability is not just a goal but an integral part of our design process. We partner with two factories— Digit Patterns located in Chicago and Vector Apparel is based in Los Angeles—that share our commitment to ethics and sustainability. These factories prioritize living wages and fair working conditions for their employees and utilize ethically sourced fabrics that align with our values.

Before production begins, we meticulously plan each step, meeting with the factory to discuss timelines, fabric options, trim delivery, and more. The factory then creates the first sample to ensure that our design can be recreated accurately based on the patterns and markers provided by Alison. Once the factory sew-by sample is approved through rigorous testing and verification, we move forward to production.

This stage can vary in duration, taking anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on factors such as fabric availability and complexity of the design. For our small batch orders, the production process typically takes about 8 weeks from the time the final designs are approved. We take pride in producing all of our garments in Los Angeles, CA, and Chicago, IL, supporting local manufacturing and craftsmanship.

In instances where timelines are tight, we have a solution. Sometimes, we use custom-made fabric sourced locally in LA. Other times, we opt for ready-to-ship fabric from a trusted vendor, such as Kendo fabric, our favorite choice. This flexibility allows us to meet deadlines without compromising on quality or sustainability.

Quality Control and Inspection

From start to finish, our production process spans anywhere from four weeks to six months. We take our time to ensure that each piece meets our standards of excellence. Our small batch orders typically require about eight weeks for production, enabling us to uphold the highest level of quality control.

Quality control is paramount throughout our production process. At MLM Brand, our team conducts thorough inspections to ensure that every dress meets the highest standards of excellence. From stitching to sizing, no detail is overlooked as we meticulously inspect each garment to ensure its quality and durability.

Fulfillment and Distribution

Finally, the shipment is either sent directly to our customers or picked up by Magda, ready to be shared with the world. Choosing our clothing means choosing stylish, comfortable pieces that also support sustainable practices, prioritizing the well-being of our planet and future generations.

As production nears its completion, the culmination of Magda's dedication and our team's efforts at MLM Brand is ready to be shared with the world of new moms. Each dress and top embodies the love and commitment poured into its creation, symbolizing the profound bond between a mother and her child. As they find their way into the hands of mothers worldwide, they complete the circle of love, serving as reminders of the enduring power of motherhood.

They also serve as a reminder of the love that brought them to this moment. The love that led them to embark on this journey of motherhood, and the love that will carry them through it.
